Exactly four and a half months following the previous coach's first press conference as the club's manager, his replacement the German coach faced the media at Rangers' stadium for the first time.

The magnitude of the challenge ahead of him is widely recognized, considering his predecessor's chaotic and unsuccessful 123-day spell.

The former Sheffield Wednesday manager was joined by club chairman Andrew Cavenagh, along with the much-criticized pair of football director Kevin Thelwell and CEO Stewart.

However, what exactly was revealed from the 36-year-old coach's maiden media outing as Rangers boss?

The Manager's Main Priority - Victory is Everything

One thing emerged loud and clear from the new coach's first appearance before the local press - he understands the necessity to win matches, and achieve this rapidly.

His predecessor Russell Martin lasted only 17 games and 123 days as manager, so the question emerged about what timeframe Rohl believes is reasonable to turn around the underperforming squad.

Although deftly sidestepping a direct answer that could bring later expectations, Rohl's communication was very evident.

"Hopefully very quickly," he stated. "That is essential.
"In this business you have not much opportunity. One can talk about future plans but we know it concerns immediate results and that period involves securing victories. That is what I demand.
"Another aspect is also obvious - I need all players to comprehend our intended to perform. I come back to my primary message: it's winning, it's attractive and unity. If you follow this order, I'm convinced that I will remain very long here."

Expectations are Normal

Martin required a police escort to leave the Falkirk Stadium after his final game in charge.

We've witnessed how hostile situations can become at sports teams when performances are poor. Protests have almost become an expected part of the matchday atmosphere on each part of the city currently.

As the club's most youthful manager in history, the question asked about which attributes the coach thinks he possesses that would allow him to handle, never mind excel, in among the highest-pressure positions in UK soccer?

"In my opinion pressure in this business is normal," he commented. "You must learn that very quickly.
"I believe certain individuals might mention my youth but I'm a decade and a half on this path. I had a great chance to be at the German club and be just the assistant coach, but I experienced the reality to be a head coach and the demands involved.
"When you start getting results and then certain people will say you need to produce entertaining football. That's the next stage but precisely my intention. I relish that challenge and I'm excited about what's ahead."

Thelwell Defends Chermiti Signing & Appointing His Son

Kevin Thelwell media conference

There were plenty of questions from journalists directed at Thelwell.

Much discussion has focused on the appointment of his son as recruitment chief, with supporters skeptical about his qualifications for the position.

Nevertheless, he justified and explained the decision to bring his son to Ibrox.

"It remains uncomfortable to listen and in appearance I believe everyone understood when we made this step to hire him that he would be viewed in a particular way," Thelwell said.
"The truth of the situation is that we want to attract the top players to this club.
"My perspective on Robbie's career and situation is he required no family help in soccer.
"He's worked at Villa as head scout, he then joined Norwich City as scouting chief and then got promoted to player pathways manager.
"Before we hiring him, two top division teams wanted to acquire him. Our approach from the beginning of proceedings was consult with the CEO, Andrew and vice-chairman Paraag Marathe about this situation.
"I remained highly open and I think Robbie probably underwent a stricter procedure than anybody else who's employed by this football club.
"I'm certain is that he'll labor constantly to achieve success for Rangers and I'm looking forward seeing him proving that he'll become a valuable staff member for Rangers."

Thelwell also supported the acquisition of striker Chermiti, who joined the club for a reported initial fee of £8m, after failing to find the net in 24 appearances for Everton.

The sporting director who transferred the Portugal youth international to Merseyside from Sporting - once more for significant money in a fifteen million pound deal.

The question came if he stands by his expensive signing, who is yet to score in seven outings for the club.

"Absolutely, very much so," Thelwell responded. "I think Youssef Chermiti represents who's possesses huge potential.
"I've never questioned him whatsoever. Again, I think Danny will help to get the best out of Youssef.
"It's very initial stages for the young player, he remains promising prospect and of course with young talents they occasionally require patience.
"But I'm certain over the course of his career here he's going to prove that he's a very, very good footballer."

The CEO Acknowledges Supporters' Frustration and Hurt

Stewart was also in the media firing line, given the criticism that has been directed his way by certain of the club's fans.

There was even a banner in the Sandy Jardine stand during the last draw with United inviting him - and the sporting director - to depart before being removed for him.

Like his football director, the CEO did not avoid the issue.

"I totally understand the frustration and anger that the supporters are experiencing because results this season haven't met expectations and nobody's satisfied with them," he said.
"The hurt and frustration they feel is mirrored inside the boardroom.
"Also understand that there has to be an outlet for that dissatisfaction and in my role, I'm responsible.
"I serve as focal point for such issues and my role as a
